M3 presents at MWEA
Paolla Giacomo presented at the MWEA Stormwater/Watershed Management Conference in Columbia, MO yesterday!
Paolla talked about the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a data visualization and analysis tool for urban stormwater applications. She demonstrated how GIS and LiDAR data can locate potential runoff collection areas and map them for water resources planning. Within GIS, she calculated a Topographic Wetness Index that indicates the effect of local topography on runoff flow direction and accumulation.
The use of this tool can help with land development, sewer separation projects, urban flooding mitigation, location of potential green infrastructure sites and location of wetlands.
Special shout out to Rosie the LIDAR specialist on the M3 team!
