M3 designed 7,933 lineal feet of sanitary sewers varying in size from 10″ to 54″ in diameter located west of Schoettler Drive and north of Clayton Road, in the City of Chesterfield, MO. The project included three stream crossings that required rip-rap stream protection over the piping, as well as 2,500 feet of streambank stabilization to protect the sewer where the alignment ran parallel to the stream.
The proposed project relieved the existing system of excessive surcharged flow levels and eliminated two constructed Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs).
M3 modeled the proposed sewers using HYDRA, prepared construction documents, cost estimates, and provided construction services. Project challenges included the need for 500 feet of special excavation shoring to protect swimming pools, as well as specialized backfill design due to poor soil conditions.
